Ok, so there is a story behind this one. I originally actually designed this print only for me. Here is how it began...


Last year, I had an awesome intern, Elise, join me in my studio. During her stay, there happened to be an article that came out about my husband and I in a local newspaper. When it came out, we rushed to go get the paper and one evening, Elise snapped a photo of me (goofily) holding up the article with the big supersized picture of my husband and I.

When Elise she returned home to New York, she posted pictures from her stay on Facebook and that one picture of me holding up the paper. That picture got the caption..."They're kind of a big deal over there." Oh my god, that caption made me crack up so much. The hilarity of it is infact that we are indeed NOT a big deal.

So, I made up a poster, for myself, that said..."I'm Kind of a Big Deal Around Here." It's funny, because "around here" only consists of me for a good portion of the time.

But then I really started loving the saying and though, "How cute for a nursery!" - with the little one's name. Because, children ARE big deals. They are mini bundles of cuteness and joy. And should to feel really special. So I decided to make it up for others, with the option for customizing with a name.

And there you have it. The story behind the new print! The name can be customized, or, you can do what I do, and have simply "I'm a Big Deal Around Here." My print gets a lot of giggles when people come over. :)

More colours will be available soon, but I couldn't resits posting this right away.

New 13x19 Style Alphabet Print

Inspired by one of my friends rooms for her little one, this new colour combo has been launched as a standard style over at http://www.pennypeople.etsy.com/.

You guys are quick - the minute I posted about the Sherbert style below, I had about 5 e-mails within the hour asking if I was going to do a more "boy" theme. Wowza. ;) Anyhow, it was in the works, but then my camera battery died, and then I ran out of paper yesterday - not all was going well.

Then, when I was browsing Etsy, I saw someone (who will rename unamed) directly copying my beautiful Alphabet print. Just changed the font oh, so slightly. My heart sank. As I "tweeted" about to my fellow Twitter people, I'm all for creative inspiration - Artists find inspiration from everywhere - even other artists, however directly replicating someones work is not only hurtful, but very much illegal. Yup. That big bad word. I sent her an e-mail, she apologized, and then remove her prints, but it left me feeling pretty sad. But as I said, she removed them, so I moved on.

Alas, today everything fell into place, and here is the new print!

New Number Print

I've had a string of creativity lately, which I always embrace - as creativity isn't always available to us creative types. Creative spurts happen at the weirdest times - it may be at 2am, when I'm about to go to bed, and then an idea pops into my head - and then I pop out of bed and start designing. I'm trying to get better at writting the ideas down on my (new) notepad beside my side of the bed - placed there by my husband so I would stop getting out of bed at 2 am. :)

My newest art print, simple stated, "Numbers" launched yesterday and I have it hanging in my front hall. I love it. I keep singing Seasame Streets' Number song whenever I see it.
My husband asked why I didn't continue with 10, 11, and 12, when I mentioned that I kept singing the song when designing it. The reason is simply because I think if this were to hang in a little ones room, it would be a bit "odd" to have a counting print go to 12, and well - stop there. However, between you and I, sing the song when you see the print and I think it will make you smile.

Disclaimer - The song is addictive, and may bring back a flood of memories.

Oh we're on Ohdeedoh....Again!

I love blogs. Love, love, love them. (Maybe that's why I'm addicted to ours). So when our products are featured on a blog that I admire and read every day, I get giddy - absolutely giddy. In the past week, our Alphabet Prints have been featured not only once, but TWICE as the "Best of 2008" on Ohdeedoh.



We were mentioned as one of the 2008's "Best of" Alphabet Prints and "Best of" Etsy Finds.
That's like getting an Academy Award to me. Holy mackaroons this made my week!

A,B,C ... Alphabet Print

We just did a test run of a huge print (13x19") for a client. I just had to take a picture. I wish I had a frame around the studio that would fit this so I could show you what it looked like framed. I may have to make up two for myself, one with my name and the other with my husbands. How cute would that be? My stumbling block is "framing" so if anyone has suggestions on where they get their frames from, I'd love to hear...
And excuse my feet - I have a thing for sticking them in photos ackwardly. :)

I adore this print so much I think I'm going to offer it as an "always" product on PennyPeople.com. In the meantime if you'd like one for yourself, they are $15.00 each, personalized with your name & any colour you'd like for your name! :)
